LEARN TO SKATE LEVEL 1 — FALL 2026, SESSION 1
Ages 4–8
Build your child’s skating skills and confidence in a fun, encouraging environment!
Learn to Skate Level 1 is designed for children who have completed our Pre-Learn to Skate program or already have some basic skating experience. Skaters will continue developing essential skills such as balance, gliding, stopping, edge control and independent movement on the ice.
Games, music, toys and creative teaching aids are incorporated into each class to keep children active, engaged and excited to learn.
Led by Head Instructor Thalia Stybak, the Cutting Edge Learn to Skate program provides a friendly and supportive environment where every child can progress at their own pace. The program is based on the nationally recognized CanSkate curriculum, which uses a proven, progressive approach to developing fundamental skating skills.
Whether your child wants to become a stronger recreational skater or eventually transition into hockey or figure skating, Level 1 will help them develop the confidence, balance, agility and skating foundation they need.
Cutting Edge is proud to offer one of the best-value Learn to Skate programs in Halton.
About Our Head Instructor
A graduate of McMaster University, Thalia Stybak spent three years as an assistant Learn to Skate instructor at Cutting Edge under former Head Instructor Samantha White.
Thalia’s background as a figure skater, combined with her experience teaching young children, makes her exceptionally well suited to lead our Learn to Skate program. Her calm, friendly and patient teaching style helps skaters feel comfortable, supported and confident on the ice.
